Latoya Andrea Lucas Critical After Wilson Courthouse Shooting; Suspect Accused of Firing at Officers
Family, friends, and members of the Wilson, North Carolina, community are praying for the recovery of Latoya Andrea Lucas, 19, who remains in critical condition after being shot multiple times Monday outside the Wilson County Courthouse in what authorities describe as an alleged retaliatory attack.
According to police, the shooting occurred outside the courthouse, where Latoya Andrea Lucas was struck multiple times by gunfire. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and provided lifesaving medical care before transporting her to a nearby hospital. Officials said she remains in critical condition as she continues to receive treatment.
Authorities identified the suspect as Abdul Karim Mustafa, 21. Investigators allege that after the shooting, Mustafa also fired at responding law enforcement officers, prompting an immediate police response. Officers secured the area, and an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
